2 주 후기! 2 weeks in!
I shopped a lot before I decided to go with the Hair & Line Clinic. It's been 3 years coming bit I'm glad I took my time.
I have been to multiple places that quoted me half the price for basic hairline, but non of them really explained the procedures or were as thorough or as clear.
What got me was the fact there there is only one doctor and he only takes one patient for surgery per day (so you know he won't be over exerted during the procedure, or worse, have someone do it in his place without telling you).
This type of procedure isn't cheap, but the time it takes and the skills required aren't to be triffled with in my opinion.
I chose to have a mix of shaved lines within which they pick healthy hair, and picking hair from the non cut full length hair. I was never fond of the idea of having a scar in my scalp and I have a lot of hair in the back of my head so it wasn't a problem for me.
2670 hairs, "M" shaped large forehead
A week prior to the procedure I got some kind of lazer treatment to help stimulate hair growth (I was actually quite shocked, that actually hurt quite a lot, if for very brief moments); they did about 5-6 spots on my hairline, and it felt like hair removal lazer, but thicker and stronger. I was glad it didn't hurt for long and that they didn't do many. After this, some of my baby hair around my hairline fell, but we're supposed to grow stronger then they start a new hair cycle.
Before the procedure I had another laser treatment but that was just some kind of strong light, no pain, just waiting 20 minutes with eyes covered.
The procedure started with the doctor redrawing the design of my hairline, and I was surprised, he drew it with a wood stick (think BBQ meat skewers) dipped in blue ink; I now know that it was most likely because they keep spraying saline water to the areas he works on during the procedure and pen wouldn't stay as well, and I guess might now be as clean?
Then I went to the operation table and was surprised: they had a kind of pillow so my breast wouldn't be crushed uncomfortably during the hair extraction, there was a forehead cushiony support thing instead of a Pillow.
So the procedure goes like this.
They set you up with IV and then you turn around facedown, and they tell you before they put you asleep, for two minutes then wake you up.
While you're asleep they use small short needle injections all around your scalp to numb everything (it felt like my head was connected to a soft 1inch rubber helmet from 11am til 7pm and there was absolutely NO pain. I can't stress this enough. I was terrified to be in pain, before, during and after the procedure, there wasn't ANY pain because of the hair extraction or planting).
They wake you up and then do the extraction, that takes what, 40 minutes to 1hr.
They make you turn around and then you can use the restroom and drink some water, they also give you candy or chocolate (you need to fast before the surgery so it's a welcome amount of sugar).
Then you have a 20-40minutes break where the doctor and nurses separate the type of hairs appart for planting.
You basically just have to wait. I had thought of either using my phone and take images of the procedures or put earphones in so I could listen to an ebook, but since they spray saline water 100% of the time it would have been terrible for any kind of machine to be so wet.
Then they start again, put you asleep for another 2 minutes to put anesthesia and wake you up and then it's another time to wait while the doctor puts hair into place.
During the whole procedure the doctor is super friendly and open to chat about anything, and he really seems to enjoy what he's doing so that felt very reassuring.
They took a 20 minutes break around 3h30pm and then wrapping up until around 6h30. After that they wash your hair (except the part with the newly planted hair which they just rinse) because it's full of slightly bloody saline water (as I mentioned they literally spend 7 hours spraying you with water). That was the ONLY painful part. And it wasn't painful how you'd expect. The anesthesia was still full on, so there wasn't any pain where they did the procedure, but the lower part of the scalp that has been pressing on the cushion, and that still feels everything, is sore, and she uses gloves to wash your hair, because blood. So the pulling of the latex was the most uncomfortable thing ever.
They then give you saline water spray that you need to allll use that evening. And a different bottle to spray hourly the next day.
The next day you go and they wash your hair, including the new hair, that will need to be "washed" by putting foam over it 3 minutes then rinsing off without touching, for the next 2 weeks.
So that was for the procedure.
As for the after procedure, I didn't feel any pain. I had slight bruising on the temples (and they gave me red light treatment to reduce the bruising everytime I went after the surgery). There wasn't any blood from the parts they took the hair from, and while it was a bit uncomfortable to sleep the first few days (I usually sleep on my belly, so I couldn't really sleep and smoothing my new baby hair) it wasn't painful. It got slightly itchy at times but I used their spray as often as I could and mostly stayed home.
It's healing really well so far I can't wait to see how it evolves!!!
